Hamilton police have launched a homicide inquiry after a 32-year-man was allegedly assaulted and died this morning.
Ambulance staff called police at 1.15am today to a house in Queens Avenue, central Hamilton, where the man was injured.
He had died by the time police arrived.
Detective Inspector Peter Devoy said police were speaking with one man in relation to the incident.
Police have not yet released the victim's name and they are still trying to formally confirm his identity.
A team of police are examining the scene and making inquiries in the area.
