A man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a residential Hamilton neighbourhood this morning.
Senior Sergeant Pete van de Wetering said ambulance staff were called to the property at the northern end of Victoria St about 11.30am.
Because of the nature of the call, paramedics contacted police who made sure it was safe before anyone else entered the premises.
Officers found a 54-year-old man with "two significant stab wounds, at least". He was taken to Waikato Hospital with injuries that van de Wetering described as moderate to serious.
A 50-year-old woman was found close to the property and police took her into custody.
