A Hamilton man, convicted of murdering his wife, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Manu Sikuvea, 35, had pleaded guilty to the murder of Sarah Edwards and two charges of sexual violation.
The couple had been in Lower Hutt to attend a wedding at Easter last year. The body of Ms Edwards, a mother of five, was found in a van in Taita suburb on Easter Monday.
The court was told she had suffered nearly 20 years of brutality from Sikuvea.
He was sentenced in the High Court at Wellington this morning.
