The election of treasurer Bill Hamilton to life membership was a highlight of the Masterton Bowling Club's annual meeting on Saturday.
It was an honour which recognised his many years of long service to the club and while Hamilton himself was typically reserved about accepting it he was convinced otherwise after several members had spoken strongly in favour of his nomination.
Figures presented by Hamilton is his treasurer's report showed the club to be financially healthy although the doubling of the land rating value did cause some surprise.
Retiring president Warren Wyeth congratulated the many club members who had tasted success at the various major tournaments and centre events held over the past season and also referred to the successful reconditioning and resowing work completed on the number one green.
Officers elected were: Patrons, Rena Fellingham and Colin Clark; president, Ann McDonald; senior vice-president, Karl Taucher; secretary, Judith Stringer; treasurer, Bill Hamilton; match convenor, Sheryl Peterson; club captains, Edith Kern and John Claydon; centre delegates, Ian Monaghan and Ann McDonald.
Ends.
