The Hamilton Airport Motor Inn's recently developed conference centre can be accessed quickly because of its central airport location.
"You can land at 8.50 am and be seated in your conference at 9 am," says general manager, Ian White.
"There's nowhere else in the country where you can do that."
The air-conditioned centre has two conference rooms, each able to seat 100 delegates theatre-style.
A retractable sound-proof wall allows the two rooms to open up to one larger room seating up to 200.
Plenty of free parking is available, a complete range of audio visual equipment is available and all catering is provided on-site. A boardroom seats up to 14.
Located directly opposite the Hamilton International Airport terminal, the motor inn was built in 1996 to provide accommodation for the growing number of transtasman travellers using the airport.
The introduction of transtasman flights has seen the airport grow to become New Zealand's fourth largest.
Mr White says there are plans to further extend the runway, and extensions to the airport's carparks and duty-free shopping facilities are under construction.
"Early last year we found a strong demand for conference facilities at the airport and developed the new facilities," Mr White says.
"The conference centre has been busy since opening with all manner of conferences, large and small, plus weddings and business functions."
"We're now at the stage where we need more accommodation and we're adding 26 rooms for Fieldays in June."
The extra units will bring the total accommodation to 61 studio and executive units. The complex has a bar and brasserie, swimming pool, tennis court, sauna and gymnasium.
Two golf courses are only minutes from the airport.
"We're developing a package whereby Auckland companies can enjoy a champagne flight down from Ardmore in a warbird Dakota plane the night before, have their one or two-day conference and fly back again," Mr White says.
"It's definitely something a bit different and perfect for team-building."
Team-building activities include abseiling and cave tubing, available 40 minutes' drive away at Waitomo.
"We'll take care of all arrangements to ensure you'll have a conference to remember," Mr White says.
