Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a male approach a 12-year-old girl in Hamilton.
The school girl was walking to Whitiora Primary when police said she was "accosted" on Abbottsford Street, near the school grounds.
The alleged offender was seen in a vehicle described as a silver mid-nineties Nissan Pulsar, that also had two other men in the car.
The sedan also had red rose stickers around the driver side on the front guard and there was damage to its rear.
The man who is said to have approached the girl was described as being of Maori descent, between 30 and 40, short, and wearing a black beanie, white singlet and dark baggy pants.
