A Hamilton man has flown to the United States to be with his 24-year-old daughter who was found unconscious at the bottom of a swimming pool.
Candice Warren, a Hamilton shop manager, is in a critical condition in hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, on after she was dragged from the pool at a residential complex last Wednesday, Fairfax Media reported.
Miss Warren was in Utah for a cousin's wedding and was staying at the complex with family.
Her father, Roma Warren, flew to the US on Thursday.
Her aunt, Sandra Morris, yesterday said details surrounding the near-drowning were still unclear.
"We won't really know anything until her father gets there and relays information to us about the situation and what did happen," she said.
Local newspapers reported Miss Warren was under the water for some time before being noticed.
"It is serious, she's in the neurological critical unit and it's a very critical situation," Mrs Morris said.
Candice's mother, Lei-Anne Warren, said her daughter had grown up in the Mormon Church and the family's faith was helping them cope with the unfolding tragedy.
"We're all praying for a good outcome and are hopeful she does pull through," she said.
