A suspicious package has been found inside an ANZ bank branch in Hamilton this morning.
Police warned locals to stay out of the Ward St area of the city after the package was spotted just before 9am.
Senior Sergeant Rupert Friend said police were in attendance at Ward Street and the immediate area surrounding the bank has been evacuated and cordoned off as a precaution.
"We are in the early stages of our investigation to determine the contents of the package and our main priority at the moment is public safety."
Cordons will remain in place in Ward St until further notice.
