A stand-off between the Armed Offenders Squad and a man in Hamilton has ended. No arrests have been made.
Police will hold a press conference on the incident at 2.30pm.
Cordons were in place in the Hamilton suburb of Nawton this afternoon while attempts were made to contact a man believed to have seriously assaulted a woman two days ago.
The woman was said to have been held against her will, and was believed to have been seriously assaulted and sexually violated during the incident.
She is now in hospital.
Police used stun grenades and several rounds of tear gas in their attempts to reach the man in a house on Sunnyside Road.
