A man charged with murdering a fellow resident at a Wellington halfway house is due to stand trial at the High Court in Wellington today.
Wiremu Haare, 44, allegedly killed 37-year-old Kelly Noema on August 11, 2009, at Mansfield House in Newtown.
Mr Noema had been bailed to the address by police the previous day and a post-mortem examination showed he died as a result of multiple stab wounds.
Haare was arrested the next day and initially charged with assault. That count was withdrawn a few days later and the murder charge was substituted.
