KEY POINTS:
Otaki MP Nathan Guy and Napier MP Chris Tremain have been re-elected as National's whips.
Prime Minister elect John Key today announced the outcome of a vote taken at last week's first caucus.
Mr Guy will be senior whip and Mr Tremain junior whip. Both held those roles in the last Parliament.
Mr Key said it was the view of caucus that both had done their job well and deserved to continue.
He said he saw both men as potential future Cabinet ministers.
The whips' role involves mustering MPs for votes, guiding them through Parliament's rules and processes and enforcing discipline.
The election of the whips is usually announced straight after the vote, but this time it was held off for a week until the announcement of Mr Key's new look Cabinet.
