A man has been arrested after a gun was fired during a fight in Waitarere Beach last night.
The incident started with a physical altercation between two men in a residential street in the coastal town, south of Palmerston North, shortly after 6pm yesterday, police said.
One of the men went into a nearby property and returned with a firearm, and a shot was then fired, police allege.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Levin and Otaki police officers, and the Palmerston North Armed Offenders Squad, were called to the scene.
