A 21-year-old Wellington butcher today entered a surprise guilty plea in connection with the murder of Tony Stanlake whose handless body was found on Wellington's south coast.
Peter George Leach, from Miramar, Wellington, admitted a charge of being an accessory after the murder when he appeared in Wellington District Court.
However the court was told that Leach disputed some facts of the case against him.
The case was then adjourned for a disputed facts hearing on September 11.
Mr Stanlake's mutilated body was found at Owhiro Bay on July 9.
Daniel Robert Moore, 21, of Naenae, Lower Hutt, has been charged with Mr Stanlake's murder.
He is due back in court on September 29.
