Jamaican police have arrested a security guard in connection with the murder of New Zealand-born British honorary consul John Terry at his home in the island's capital of Kingston last September.
Richard Ewan, 23, has been charged with conspiracy to murder, the Jamaica Observer newspaper reported.
Mr Terry, who was born in New Zealand, was found by his gardener strangled at his Mount Carey home on September 9, 2009.
Police believed he was killed by someone who knew him as officers could find no sign of forced entry at the house.
Mr Terry, 64, had lived in Jamaica since 1967 and worked as a hotel maintenance manager up to the time of his death.
Ewan worked as a security guard in Montego Bay at the time of Mr Terry's death.
Mr Terry's murder came three months after New Zealand tourist Tiki Hunia was shot dead while on his second honeymoon in Kingston.
Police made two arrests for the murder but the pair were later freed after witnesses failed to identify them.
