GST, tax to push up petrol 7c

Motorists are scrambling to fill their cars to beat a 7 cent per litre rise in the price of petrol.

The price hike is being attributed to the increase in GST as well as a 3 cent per litre fuel excise tax, both set to come into effect overnight.
