Job applicants in the Wairarapa region face an uphill battle in the coming months as the number of job-seekers surges.
New data published by the Seek Employment Index (SEI), which measures the ratio of new jobs on seek.co.nz to applications received for those roles, showed 41 listed online in Wairarapa in October.
This figure is included in a countrywide listing of 17,500 available jobs.
This represents a 0.9 per cent dip in the job market which signals that the number of applicants grew faster than the supply of jobs, according to Seek.
Seek general manager Janet Fauling said the data was normal for this time of year.
