Open up a 4-year-old girl's closet and you might find a jumble of toys and clothes.
But open up Paul David Cleeve's stepdaughter's closet and you would find it full of cannabis.
Cleeve appeared in the Whanganui District Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to cultivating cannabis after a search of his house revealed the 17 plants he had stashed in the child's wardrobe.
Police also found 45g of cannabis leaf material in his bedroom.
Cleeve told police he had been growing the plants for a week or two and that he was doing so for personal use, police prosecutor Sergeant Rachel Willemsen said.
