A group of cyclists have been injured after colliding with each other near Lauder, in Otago.
Initial reports indicated five road cyclists had crashed into each other and three of the group were injured at about 12.40pm, a police media spokeswoman said.
St John attended the incident on SH85, about 10kms out of Lauder towards Ranfurly and attended to one patient who was in a serious condition and two who were in moderate condition. They were flown by rescue helicopter to Dunedin Hospital.
Earlier in the day, emergency services attended an accident after a car hit a tree and crashed into a paddock near Dipton in the South Island.
The woman driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was in a critical condition and flown by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital. St John and the police attended.
