A grounded yacht which has captured locals' interest on Sumner Beach in Christchurch over the past few days, has been found on fire this morning.
The single-mast yacht is about 30 feet long. It broke its mooring and washed up on the beach on Thursday night.
The Fire Service was called about 3:45am to put out a small fire on its deck.
It is not known how much damage there was, or what caused the fire.
