Severe gridlock that trapped thousands of Auckland motorists today is still causing havoc this evening in the central city.
Auckland Transport says motorists should expect delays and detours, due to the resurfacing of parts of Hobson St this weekend.
"A road closure is required to resurface Hobson St and repair patches. Some delays can be expected."
There are lengthy delays for traffic using Hobson St to access the Northern, Southern and Northwestern motorways.
There are also delays in Albert St and Victoria St West, causing congestion in adjacent streets.
Lanes have been restricted in many parts of the CBD to allow for roadworks, and there are also delays from streets closed or realigned for work on the Central Rail Link tunnel and stations.
While there are thousands of cones in place, motorists are complaining traffic lights have not been re-phased.
Powerball has now rolled over to $10 million for Wednesday night's draw.
