A package which caused the evacuation of Auckland International Airport's mail centre on Thursday contained a World War I hand grenade that had been posted to a collector.
Police spokesman Michael Woods said: "There was nothing sinister in it. It had been hollowed out and filled in, and was being sent to someone who collects these sorts of things."
Flights were not affected.
