The Greens will introduce a carbon tax of $10 a tonne of carbon dioxide to encourage energy efficiency, says party co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons.

The Greens would also introduce levies on tonnes of waste to landfills and on hazardous substances and pesticides, remove over three years income tax on the first $5000 of income, and make diesel subject to excise tax.
