KEY POINTS:
Green MPs marked the second anniversary of the death of their late leader Rod Donald today.
Mr Donald died suddenly two years ago leaving his family, friends, colleagues and party members stunned.
Today they gathered around a kowhai tree planted in Parliament's grounds to honour his memory.
Green co-leader Jeanette Fitzsimons said Mr Donald had not just been a colleague, but a close friend.
"He had a vision for New Zealand and worked tirelessly towards achieving that change," Ms Fitzsimons said.
"That work is continuing, with other Green MPs and co-leader Russel Norman."
Green MP Sue Bradford said it was fitting that on the anniversary that television commercials for the Buy Kiwi Made campaign had begun - a cause close to Mr Donald's heart
Green MP Keith Locke said Mr Donald would have been proud that the party had not collapsed when he died.
Some had predicted the Greens would struggle without Mr Donald, but Mr Locke said it continued to thrive and fight for all the causes he had believed in.
