The Green Party has laid a complaint with Parliament's Speaker David Carter against Act Party leader John Banks, claiming he breached Parliamentary privilege by not declaring a conflict of interest when he voted on the New Zealand International Convention Centre Bill last night.
The bill enables the Government's pokies for convention centre deal with casino company SkyCity.
Mr Banks is currently facing electoral finance fraud charges related to donations from the casino company to his 2010 Auckland mayoral campaign.
"Voting for this bill, while at the same time facing criminal charges directly linked to SkyCity, is a clear conflict of interest" Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei said.
"Mr Banks should have abstained from this vote, or at the very least, declared his interest in the House before voting."
