KEY POINTS:
More major roadworks as part of a $14 million traffic upgrade of Greenlane in Auckland will restrict vehicle movements for four months on a half-kilometre stretch of Great South Rd.
Auckland City Council has been installing a rubber median barrier down the centre of the road this weekend, ready to start widening it tomorrow to make room for new bus and cycle lanes. That means traffic will be unable to turn right for the next 16 weeks, either into or out of Gt South Rd, between Greenlane West and Campbell Rd above the Harp of Erin.
The council says the work is needed to keep traffic flowing in the longer term, and will capitalise on an upgrade already completed by Transit NZ of the big Greenlane roundabout and motorway interchange.
