New Zealand's first ever green wall, consisting of more than 1000 plants, has been created inside a new salon.
The interior garden is in the Stephen Marr salon on the top floor of the Department Store, a new fashion, art and beauty shop in Takapuna.
The double-sided wall is 10 metres long, two metres high and was created by Lucy Vincent Marr and Stephen Marr.
Skylights were installed to make sure the wall gets as much natural light as possible with man-made lighting kept to a minimum.
Currently coverage of the wall is sparse as the plants adjust to their new environment and full coverage is expected in six months.
The benefits of the green wall include increased thermal insulation, noise reduction and better quality air.
