KEY POINTS:
An "aerial artist" snapped this image on Saturday to mark the international day of action on climate change. The giant umbrella with hand reaching into the sea and "stop global warming" message was created by 400 Greenpeace activists on a beach in Florida.
Around the world protesters rallied and marched in 48 countries including a Walk Against Warming rally in Australia that attracted 30,000 people in Melbourne alone. In London, thousands gathered in Trafalgar Sq for the annual National Climate March and in New Zealand Greenpeace protesters scaled the site of the planned Marsden B coal-fired power station and launched "climate rescue radio" or Heatwave FM which will broadcast until tomorrow.
