The Green Party wants the Department of Conservation's restructure put on ice.
The final shape of the department is due to be revealed on Tuesday.
It is proposed that 80 jobs are cut and the department is split into two arms - partnership and services.
Green MP Eugenie Sage says a new review of that proposal shows it risks muddling lines of reporting and accountability - the same issues that led to the Cave Creek platform collapse that claimed 14 lives.
She says Conservation Minister Nick Smith should know better.
