KEY POINTS:
Green MP Nandor Tanczos has announced he will not put his name forward as a candidate for this year's election.
Mr Tanczos said today that he had gone into Parliament with the stated intention of doing three terms and had now given almost a decade of service to the Green Party in Parliament.
He had achieved a number of initiatives while there and had brought a "radical and fresh voice" to Parliament when elected in 1999.
He said he would work again at the grassroots level of the Green movement but said the Green Party in Parliament needed to be able to work with all parties and be seen as a safe pair of hands.
It was reported earlier that Mr Tanczos would resign from Parliament and the couple of people on the current party list between Mr Tanczos and Green Party co-leader Russel Norman would step aside so Dr Norman would stand a better chance of getting elected to Parliament.
