Auckland's Green Lane Hospital is to receive $3.5 million from the Health Funding Authority to help solve its cardiac surgery waiting list problem.
It was recently revealed close to 140 patients have been waiting for more than six months for heart operations.
The Health Funding Authority says the money has been redirected from other service areas.
Spokesman David Moore says $1 million of the $3.5 million will be used to immediately clear the back log.
He says the HFA is committed to finding a long-term solution for the problem.
