Firefighters in Auckland battled a grass fire in the crater of Mt Eden early this morning.
The blaze was reported about 3.25am, a northern fire communications spokeswoman said.
"When they arrived there appeared to be multiple scrub fires in the crater itself. It was a grass fire in the crater with three fronts."
Firefighters used rural water delivery systems to contain the blaze, the spokeswoman said.
The fire's cause was not known.
