A former police senior sergeant is fighting his dismissal from the now defunct North Shore City Council.
Bruce Wood, the council's graffiti prevention officer, left his job in September before the Auckland Supercity merger. He denied he had been dismissed when approached this week "That's incredible. I resigned. I'm retired," Wood told the Herald on Sunday.
However, lawyer Alan Jones said Wood was in a dispute with council. "I can confirm that various allegations have been laid against Mr Wood in an employment dispute with the North Shore City Council.
"Mr Wood was dismissed from his employment on September 13 following an investigation by council officers into allegations of a breach by Mr Wood of his employment terms and conditions.
"The findings and decision to terminate Mr Wood's employment gives rise to a personal grievance claim."
Auckland council spokesman Glyn Walters confirmed there was a dispute.
