About $15,000 was raised for 11-year-old Grace Yeats at a rugby game played for a special cause - getting Grace home.
Hundreds turned up to watch the game, which was held at Carterton Rugby Club on Saturday, to help raise money for Grace's rehabilitation at her family home where she will require 24-hour care.
Grace suffers from an extremely rare brain disease that has left her unable to move or speak.
She is one of only 13 people worldwide to have been diagnosed with it and is the most severely affected of all cases.
Carterton Mayor Ron Mark invited the Parliament Rugby Team to take on a special "Play for Grace XV" team, in which he was a player.
