The Ministry of Education says the pay settlement with secondary school principals is good for schools.
The settlement delivers an average pay increase of 5 per cent over two years.
This varies for each principal as the increase is based on experience.
Secretary of Education Karen Sewell says leadership is vital to achieving successful education outcomes for all young people in our secondary schools.
She says this was a constructive bargaining process that has resulted in a very good collective agreement.
