The Government has given $13 million in extra funding to social services agencies in Christchurch over the next two years.
Social Development Minister Paula Bennett said it was important to continue giving extra funding to groups in Christchurch as they dealt with the ongoing impacts of the earthquakes.
"Some of the reports I've seen says people are still suffering - in fact, in some cases they are suffering more than they were a year ago after the earthquakes."
Ms Bennett said about $20 million had been given to community and non-governmental organisations in Christchurch since the first major earthquake in September 2010.
That had funded services including about 6800 counselling sessions and the 0800 Government helpline which had taken 14,000 calls.
