Auckland public transport users can use the Google internet search engine to find the fastest ways of getting about by bus.
That follows an agreement between the Auckland Regional Transport Authority and Google Maps to add public transport to online search options previously useful only to drivers and pedestrians.
Although buses are the only form of public transport to have been included in the initial "Google Transit" database for Auckland, the authority expects trains and ferries will follow shortly.
The arrangement means Auckland joins Wellington and more than 440 other cities in 35 countries on Google Transit databases.
