Wairarapa Wines' seventh annual Harvest Festival at Gladstone riverside was a sell-out with thousands gathering to enjoy some of the best Wairarapa food and wine.
The festival held on Saturday featured nine local food outlets and 16 wineries.
Organiser Liz Pollock said the day was a huge success.
"It was just a very relaxed day out, beautiful weather, spectacular food and wine and great entertainment.
"It was just another great success of which we are all delighted," Ms Pollock said.
She said the local food on offer was of a very high standard.
"The standard with the food each year just keeps getting better and the cuisine food and wine judges we had were very impressed."
Carterton's Cafe Mirabelle had Boeuf bourguignon pies with beetroot relish matched with Johner Pinot Noir on the menu and Gladstone Vineyard Cafe's menu featured a Malaysian prawn kebab on seafood risotto matched with Gladstone Vineyard Pinot Gris, 2012.
A food and wine match competition was judged by Masterchef judge and food editor of Cuisine magazine Ray McVinnie and Cuisine magazine wine editor John Saker.
"They said the standard of the food and wine presented by everyone was excellent," she said.
The winner of the competition will be announced today.
Barry Saunders, Way Out West, the Shenanigans and the Noodles entertained the crowd.
"They were great at the end of the day - everyone was up dancing and having a great time," she said.
Ms Pollock said the well-attended event was becoming popular for people outside of Wairarapa.
"It's great for the Wairarapa."
The Human Rights Commission says it has received complaints about the event.
