Police say they are making good progress with the investigation into the death of Ngaruawahia six-month-old Serenity Scott-Dinnington.
The officer in charge of the homicide inquiry, Detective Senior Sergeant Greene, said there had been a good response from the Ngaruawahia community.
"This is a close-knit community and the death of
little Serenity has touched a chord with people in the town," he said.
Serenity died in Auckland's Starship Hospital last Thursday after her life support was switched off. She had been transferred there after being admitted to Waikato Hospital on Tuesday.
A post mortem has been completed, the results of which are being analysed and not available for release at this point.
Serenity's body has been returned to her family and a funeral is expected to be held later in the week.
Mr Greene said inquiries indicate that the injuries to Serenity were non-accidental.
"Police are making good progress with the investigation but we're sure there are people who can still help us with information about what happened to Serenity," he said.
"We encourage people to come forward to Police, in confidence if necessary. People can also provide information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
