A capacity field seems assured for the Masterton Eketahuna pro-am golf tournament to be played on January 28 and 29.
Sponsored by DHL Global Forwarding Recreational Services, Trust House and Rabobank, the first day's play is 18 holes on the Eketahuna course and the second day is 18 holes at the Masterton club's Lansdowne course.
Teams of three amateur players are joined by a professional golfer (or celebrity) and tournament co-convener Susan Rutene says the organisers are again anticipating a classy field of professionals.
The Masterton Eketahuna pro-am is the first of a series of four pro-ams in the lower North Island, being followed by Martinborough, Waikanae and Paraparaumu.
This year's event had joint winners in the professional section - Hawke's Bay's Doug Holloway and North Harbour's Josh Carmichael. They both finished with a 36-hole total of 131. Holloway shot 67 at Eketahuna and 64 at Masterton and Carmichael 66 at Eketahuna and 65 at Masterton.
