A 12-year-old girl watching the dramatic finish to the New Zealand Open yesterday was hit flush on the head by a golf ball.
June Eun Jung was in the gallery at the 18th hole when she collected Englishman Miles Tunnicliff's iron approach shot.
June, who lives in Whangaparaoa, was conscious when taken away on a stretcher. She was being treated at North Shore Hospital last night and was in a moderate condition.
Tunnicliff, 36, runnerup to Sweden's Niclas Fasth after a two-hole playoff for the title, was sad that the ball hit June, "but they told me she was okay".
