Masterton athletes Tony Price and Andrea Williams returned from the Oceania Masters track and field championships in Tauranga with a staggering 13 medals.
Price was a dominant figure in the men's 55yrs grade, finishing with six gold medals and one bronze.
His individual golds came in the 1500m, 5000m, 8000m cross country and half-marathon, and he was a member of the winning New Zealand line-up in both the cross country and half marathon events. His bronze medal came when he placed third over 800m.
Williams, competing in the women's 40yrs grade, claimed gold medals as a member of winning New Zealand teams in the 4 x 100m relay and the 8000m cross country, and she also picked up a bronze medal in the latter by placing third. Another bronze came with a third placing over 400m and she won silver medals in both the 2000m steeplechase and the medley relay.
Coach Mark Harris was "absolutely rapt" with their overall performances. He said Price had struggled with a calf niggle late in the week but had bounced back strongly after a day's rest.
