KEY POINTS:
Two trampers and gold prospectors have been found safe and well after being reported missing for six days in Golden Bay.
Senior Constable Crispin Lee said a search and rescue helicopter found the pair at their campsite on the Rocky River yesterday afternoon.
Mr Lee said the pair were fit and well and planning to walk out this morning.
Howard Eastment, 66, and a friend went into the Rocky River area near Collingwood on December 31.
Mr Lee said the search could have been avoided if Mr Eastment had told someone of his plans.
He said it was a timely reminder for trampers to tell someone of their plans and update them if they change.
"The volunteers all gave up their time and in some cases a day's work to mount this search," Mr Eastment said.
