A Washington study has shown that for the first time in a decade, global meat consumption decreased last year, from 42.5kg per person in 2010 to 42.3kg in 2011.
However overall meat production increased by 0.8% over the same period to 297m tonnes, and is expected to increase further this year. ?In developing countries, it increased 25% during this time, whereas in industrialised countries it increased just 2%.
