A fire at the Glencoal mine south of Auckland has been extinguished after a 50,000 litre diesel tanker caught fire during refuelling this afternoon.
The Fire Service was alerted to the fire at 3.10pm and 40 firefighters used foam and water tankers to put the fire out, shift manager Jaron Phillips told NZPA.
The Glencoal mine is in Kopuku, about 70km south of Auckland.
The fire was now out and because no diesel had leaked and the foam had been contained, there were no environmental risks, Mr Phillips said.
