Gladstone All Blacks and Kuranui College will be looking to cement a top four playoff spot when they meet in a Netball Wairarapa premier one match at the Genesis Recreation Centre in Masterton tonight.
Through most of the season it has been Kuranui College who has been the more consistent of the two teams, but they have been struggling to recapture their best form in recent weeks while Gladstone All Blacks have made notable progress.
Their narrow two-goal loss to second-placed St Matthews Collegiate last Saturday would have done nothing to dent the confidence of Gladstone All Blacks but Kuranui College are coming off the back of a loss to a Celtic Marist side who were allowed only five players on the court at any one time. Whether they can bounce back from the disappointment of that defeat is the $64,000 question.
Also at the Genesis Recreation Centre tonight St Matthews Collegiate will attempt to become the first team to inflict defeat on Harcourts 1 this season.
Harcourts are a classy outfit but St Matthews are on a roll and should at least make a close game of it.
They will certainly match Harcourts for speed and agility but guile is another matter.
The sole premier one match at the Colombo road courts tomorrow is between Celtic Marist and Carterton Sports Arena and while the form book says Celtic Marist should win comfortably they will be taking nothing for granted, especially if Kuranui College beat Gladstone All Blacks tonight. If that happens Celtic Marist will need to win to guarantee themselves a top four playoff berth.
