Gisborne residents can now enjoy eased water restrictions after months of conservation, thanks to replenished water sources at the Mangapoike Dams and a plentiful flow from the Te Arai River.
The Level 2 water restrictions, which limited the use of sprinklers, were lifted last week.
Gisborne District Council drinking water manager Judith Robertson said the Waingake treatment plant was meeting the city’s water needs, with the Waipaoa plant on standby for additional supply if required.
“We’re pleased with current water levels and the capacity of our reservoirs to meet demand,” Robertson said.
