An 18-year-old man, believed to be not wearing a seatbelt, has died after the ute he was in rolled down a bank north of Gisborne yesterday.
The crash happened on State highway 35 on the Te Whitiwhiti Hill south of Whangara, about 6.30pm.
Sergeant Steven Sutherland of Tairawhiti police said two other men in the Toyota Hilux, aged 41 and 42, were hospitalised with non-life threatening injuries.
No other vehicle was involved in the crash.
Mr Sutherland said an investigation had been launched into the cause of the crash.
