Gisborne dairy owner assaulted

Gisborne police are investigating after a dairy owner was assaulted and an alleged attacker was left with injuries on Saturday afternoon.

Police are yet to establish in detail what happened in the incident at the Elgin Dairy on Childers Road about 3.45pm.

The shop owner was assaulted and one of the people allegedly involved in the attack received hand and leg injuries requiring hospital treatment.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
