KEY POINTS:
A Nelson teen who suffered a severe electric shock from a 33,000-volt power line two weeks ago died today.
The 16-year-old girl had been in intensive care at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital since suffering the shock at the Nelson Electricity substation in Hastings St on October 21, The Nelson Mail reported.
The girl was reported to have climbed a fence to enter the substation, before climbing a 10m pylon.
Patrons at the nearby Charlies Tavern reported seeing her dangling from the power line before she fell to the ground.
But how and why she scaled the pylon remains a mystery.
Police declined to comment on the girl's death this morning.
