Girl water-skier dies in boating accident

A 12-year-old girl died after being struck by a boat while water-skiing on Lake Te Anau yesterday.

The accident happened at about 5.30pm at Brod Bay, across the lake from Te Anau township.

Sergeant Peter Payne, of Te Anau, said unsuccessful attempts were made to resuscitate the girl and Te Anau police were investigating the incident.

The girl's name had not been released last night.
